Goes on pilgrimages because she knows it"s a good way to meet men. Wants to be seen in public, wants to be visible. Suggests two things: she"s older, she"s not a very good listener. Will talk, but won"t really hear what other people say to her. Has a gap in her teeth, a sign of lechery. 5 husbands and a few dalliances on the side. Profession isn"t exactly a weaver, but that of a wife - on the look always for a husband. Cartoonish character - older woman who"s trying to cling to her youth, desperate to look younger. Someone who wants to make the most of things. Makes it clear she"s ready for her next husband - who will be her thrall and looks forward to this at the end of her tale pg. But virginity is the highest for christianity - but not everyone has to be chaste.
