Every country has experience in separation and unification. Quebec education program: progression of learning the elementary school student: Locates on maps the territory occupied by canadian society. We look at the unification (which included the independence) of canada: political and economic situation. Prince albert was low rank royal and poor - they loved each other, but the parliament made that decision (found a suiter) picked because he was poor. They figured that if she marries someone poor, parliament would control the government. When controlled by britain, degree of stability changes when queen victoria said to govern ourselves. 10 governments in 10 years: there were 4 parties at the time (canada west / east liberal/conservative) - Opposed each other at all time: coalitions (party would get together, need 50%) and confederation (all the provinces come together to solve a political problem)
