Document Summary

Levels of analysis are all interlocking we cant understand one without looking at all the levels. Researchers looking for things, not looking to solve the real world problems. Looking to expand horizons but not really looking for anything in particular. Using the information collected from basic research and applying it to real world. Ex: german dr during war times experimenting on dead & living bodies this would be basic research. But because of his work, we are now able to transport organs applied research. 7 themes: empirical, observing behaviours, theoretically diverse, theories are developed off empirical research. Everyone perceives the world in a different way. Predict how people/animals will behave under certain conditions. Influence/ control behaviour through knowledge to enhance welfare. Na ve realism: the idea that seeing is believing doesn"t always allow us to arrive at the correct conclusion because sometimes our beliefs shape our perception of the world.
