Called the national guard: bastille: a symbol of tyranny. Crowd storms bastille to get gunpowder and ammunition. Hundreds of causalities: collapse of authority in paris leads to the provinces. Citizens form their own attachments of the national guard and revolutionary committees: national assembly needs to formulate political principles and constitution, necker is brought back, mirabeau believed the king should have certain powers. People refuse to pay taxes: abolition of the old, seigneurial regime is suggested. All of the ancient regime declared the end. Peasants didn"t get much of an economic benefit from it: constitution says, all men are born equal by natural law, they possess unalienable rights. Could be applied to any country"s circumstances: passive citizens and active citizens. Peasants, labourers, etc don"t get the right to vote. Older than 25 who pay taxes worth 3 days of wages could vote.
