Based on what you consume, nutrients (or lack of) can affect the physiological foundation of your body. Components of foods/beverages that our bodies utilizes in order to sustain us physiologically (ex: water, carbs, protein, fats) Food: any nutritious substance that is consumed/absorbed in order to sustain life & growth, limited number of nutritious substance defined as acceptable. Dieting refers to the deliberate selection of food/beverage to control body weight/nutrient intake. Note: if a diet is not sustainable, it will not work. This is due to the significant modifications which can affect your body. Eating to live: providing your body what you need (basic nutrients) Living to eat: involves mindless, excessive eating which can result in serious health complications. A unit of measure indicating the amount of energy obtained from a particular food/beverage.
