Document Summary

Shaping: di erential reinforcement of successive approximations of a target behaviour: shaping topography, shaping duration, latency, rate, force, often used to teach communication/vocal skills. Determine the rst approximation to the target behaviour based on what the client can currently do. Determine the intermediate steps to teach from the rst approximation to the target behaviour and indicate the criterion for each step. Teaching task analysis and chaining for activities of daily living (adl) Completing adls independently allows these individuals to be included in the many environments. Basic adl: grooming, showering, dressing, toileting, eating, mobility. Instrumental adl: transportation within the community, taking medications as prescribed, shopping, housework, managing money, using technology. The learner is not allowed to escape the non-preferred activity of eating until the required amount of food has been consumed. Increase variety of foods and the amounts of foods a learner consumes using positive reinforcement (reinforcer is not an edible)
