Document Summary

Endometriosis is defined as when the tissue that makes up the uterine lining (the lining of the womb) is present on other organs inside your body ("endometriosis", n. d. ). Endometriosis affects roughly 1 in 10 women around the world ( facts about endometriosis , n. d. ). Infertility is defined by the failure to achieve a clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse ("infertility definitions and terminology", 2016). Diagnosis of endometriosis is done by doing a laparoscopy surgery. Infertility seems to be a common problem among women with endometriosis. Infertility in women with endometriosis is caused by the inflammation and irradiation that comes with the disease. Since estrogen is one of the main catalysts for endometriosis, doctors usually recommend using some sort of birth control to put the body into a menopause like state to decrease the growth and help with the pain.
