Both male and female participants experience vasocongestion: plateau: respiration, heart rate continue to build up muscle tension, orgasm: rhythmic contractions of penis/vagina, resolution: in males, decrease in arousal, physiological changes normalize, also refractory period in males (where it"s difficult to get aroused for a period of time following an orgasm) Nature of emotion: response to eliciting stimuli, internal (generating stimuli ourselves) or external stimuli (from external world, result of cognitive appraisal, perceived meaning, psychological arousal, increases with stress, decreases with contentment, behavioral tendencies (the things that we do, expressive or instrumental (behaviors that act as instruments to do something, coping mechanisms ect. )
