Heterosexism is more than assuming someone is straight but in ways the policies and structures assume that as well. Those could be excluded from a home itself if they feel like they may be discriminated against, or they could miss out on social events as well. Recognizing heterosexism assumptions by the law, medicine that heterosexism is the norm. Assuming when a patient says a partner they are of the opposite sex. How would you as a nurse try to improve that healthcare case by disrupting the heterosexist occurences. List determinants of health income, social status, social support status, employment working income, biology genetic endowment, childhood, etc. Cis-gender you are born female, you feel female psychologically as well. In what way can their barriers to health be mitigated. We need to be alert to the biases that we hld.
