Piaget believes that there are certain processes: one of them is: adaptation: human beings and animals adapt to their environment. Ex: bears develop a thick fur to adapt to the cold when winter comes: organization: as human beings, we organise naturally. However, adaptation is divided into two parts: assimilation and accommodation. The learning process comes when you get contradictions. In order to assimilate in your schema an information, you must accommodate another information to replace the previous one. Piaget also said that all children, pass through a series of universal stages in a certain order: sensorimotor: is from birth until 2 years old. Infancy falls into the sensorimotor stage: preoperational: is from 2 to 6-7 years old, concrete: period when a child is in elementary school 6-11, formal: 11 to end of adolescence. Ex: when mother leaves the room, she continues to exist, even though she is not present. Encoding: changing an information for you to understand it better.
