Arth 298 montreal: evolution through architecture and urbanism. Was a 3rd courthouse, which is place de la justice built in 1963. Devoted since the conquest to the administration of justice and the city. Place jacque cartier: always wanted to revamp this area. Archeological excavation, found foundation of the house of governor vaudreuil. Highest section kept in place, 8 feet tall of fortification, after excavation everything needed to be recovered, put marking on the ground, so dark black slate are there to show where the structure were standing. Old montreal is famous for tourism, office buildings, warehouses, little houses are quite rare. Just off place jacque cartier we see the beaudoin house. 3 houses attached to each other, typical house, white wash, everything in montreal was white wash in18th ce. Abandonment of white was coming with tourism, which is funny bc most of the tourism in.
