According to the author no we don"t have instincts. All men are equal, however women are not included. This was a radical idea for the time. Universal education would limit the inequalities and implant morality in children. Raised and taught to see each other as equal. The human mind receives an empty slate for it to be written on and taught by the french republic. Test their theory on feral (wild kids, abandoned) children, found in cities and outskirts. Sometimes abandoned by parents, nowadays confinement is more common. Victor was found in the woods searching for food by hunters. Victor was the first human who was tested for human behaviour, since he was considered a blank slate. You could look at a feral child and look directly into human nature was the idea at the time. Intelligence can only be measured in relative terms. Humans have the potential to obtain culture but it needs to be unlocked.
