Socially deined because it has no basis in biology. Concept of race is a product of our culture. Racism is hard to prove and grasp. History of racism - history of colonialism. Goal was to jusify the moral hierarchy of racism. Measured peoples skulls, the bigger the more intelligence. Said caucasians had the largest mean they were the most intelligent. Telling people with power and wealth exactly what they wanted to hear. Selecion bias, you can"t tell what race someone is by their skull, only used 72 skulls. No relaionship between skull size and brain size. Most people are the same on a molecular level. However sill a long history of it. Indian act- designed to control every aspect of the indigenous peoples lives, they were isolated on reservaions. Cultural assimilaion, encourage them to join the white european society because life on the reserve was near impossible.
