Status conferral: prominence given to an individual, event, or thing by focusing the media on it. Narcotization: desensitization because of mass exposure to information through media. Domino effect: the spread of a positive or negative fad or movement via the media. Hyper-reality: a blurring affect of what is real and what is online and the interactions between them. Interaction rituals: an event in which participants focus on a common objective or activity and share a common emotional experience or set of feelings. Mediated interactions: interactions that take place via mobile communications devices. Networked individualism: individuals acting in a networked way to solve problems, make decisions, get social support. Generally involves being both connected and alone simultaneously.
