Anxiety: a manifestation of the fear response. Four basic components: physiological, emotional, cognitive, behavioural. Where we avoid the situation, avoiding the surge of anxiety. Note experiencing non-pathological levels of anxiety and depression at some point in one"s life is a common occurrence. For disorders, the typical range of emotions are more extreme and have a persistent and ongoing effect. Fear and anxiety: fear is the emotional response to real or perceived imminent threat. Includes surges of autonomic arousal associated with fight or flight, thoughts of immediate danger, and escape behaviours: anxiety is the anticipation of future threat. Anxiety is often associated with muscle tension and vigilance in preparation for future danger and cautious or avoidant behaviours. A panic attack is not a mental disorder. But they can occur in the context of any anxiety disorder as well as other mental disorders and some medical conditions. Different from anxiety, it"s overwhelming, makes it impossible to function while having a panic attack.
