On a negative note, self-esteem can sometimes be hollow; is can lead to narcissism and can be correlated with social desirability. There are different ways to measure self-esteem by looking at implicit and explicit self-esteem! Implicit self-esteem: this is the self as an organizing structure in memory. There are things about ourselves that are remembered better than things not connected to ourselves.
