3- 5 year old children were tested in their preschool on the delay of gratification. Delay of gratification for example one marshmallow/pretzel now, but if you wait 15 minutes you can have two. (some children waited, some did not) After 10 years, the parents of the children were contacts and asked a series of questions; Parents were also asked to rate the child"s personality on the basis of ego resilience and/or ego control. The results showed that those children aged 3-5 who waited had an extremely high correlation with ego resilience followed by agreeableness and academics. There was a much lower correlation with ability to cope, frequency of problems and ego control. Another major area of research is whether temperaments predict adult personality. One study done tested 1000+ children starting at ages 3 until ages 26, every two years. At age 3: tested/observed for 90 min by an experimenter who rates child on a series of 22 dimensions;
