Parenchyma: tissues associated w/ function (e. g. , neuron & glia) Nerve: collection of neuron axons in pns, tract: collection of neuron axons in cns. Efferent: directed away from brain (e. g. , motor nerves) Afferent: directed toward brain (e. g. , sensory nerves) Convention for compound terms: prefix = neural origin; suffix = axonal termination e. g. , corticospinal, thalamocortical, etc.
