Three sources of evidence for people"s beliefs: experience, intuition, authority. We base our beliefs on our own experiences. We base our beliefs on the experiences of friends and family. Ex : i think this drink really works! i feel more calm and serene after i drink it . You decide on a honda accord, because reports of accord owners indicate it"s a good car. We shouldn"t base our beliefs only on our own experience because life does not have comparison groups. Research, asks the critical question: compared to what? . Dr. rush drained blood from peoples wrist as a cure for illness. This practice came from the belief that too much blood caused illness (i. e. yellow fever) Doctors who used this cure noticed that some patients recovered and some died. If a patient died, it was said the patient was too sick to recover & would die anyway.
