Section 35 of the constitution act constitutionally protects rights of aboriginal peoples, which includes m tis, inuit and indians. Inuit are the aboriginals in the northern region of canada, and who largely have their own form of self-government. Indians are all aboriginals other than the m tis. Registered indians are people who are registered with the federal government as indians, according to the terms of the indian act. Registered indians are also known as status indians.
