Crime rates go down, but spending goes up (budget has gone up by 23%) 1. 1% of our budget goes to criminal justice/law. Criminalization of politics: using criminal law to deal with social problems. Multiple models are helpful, better explains procedures and the law: crime control model: Trying to get someone from factual guilt to legal guilt as efficiently as possible: due process model: Trying to get someone from factual guilt to legal guilt - the crown must go through many obstacles in order to prove their case.
