The origin of the legal profession foes back to rome, during the imperial period. Law became a professionalized tool of social control of market control . Market control: the successful assertion of unchallenged authority over some area of knowledge and its instrumentalization. France, until the british conquest and treaty of paris 1763, which gave rise to the hybrid system where avocet could appear in the common court of the pleas. In 1835 they gained access to criminal cases.
