Social solidarity is the idea that all members of society share the same set of values. Mechanical solidarity pre-modernity, found in traditional societies, most members of the society did the same types of things (ex: farming), people were drawn together by these similarities, the punishments for deviance were often harsh and repressive. There has been a shift from mechanical solidarity to organic solidarity. There has been a shift from religion as a source of law to social institutions as a source of law. There has been a shift from the use of repressive law (i. e. Use of civil law) (see black"s styles of law ) Morality is absolute (something is either completely wrong or completely right)
