Islam - means submission to the will of god. Muslim - (true believer) follower of islam. Qu"ran the koran, holy islam book. The arabic language is very important in the spread of islam. Starts with muhammad in the city of mecca. The byzantine is still quite strong, but the territory will eventually be taken over by the islamic group in the following centuries. Islamic faith combined elements of traditional muslim worship with. The expansion of islam involved the spread of the arabic language. No meeting place for the entire group. Majority of the population are nomadic tribes that never really talked with the others. Tribes have no such unity, tribal loyalty helps cement clans. Usually as small groups but never as entire tribes. No system of law to protect person and property. Camels and goats in the arabic heartland. Used wool, milk, and chess to trade. Arabia was a central access for commerce between east and west.
