Laws and statistics are a form of knowledge. Statistics are a form of knowledge and power. Measuring crime is fallible (capable of making mistakes or being erroneous) General social survey (gss) on victimization: collect data on the experience with criminal victimization in canada. Every five years: collects information on 8 crime types over the previous twelve months, fill the gap in police reported crime rates. Most people who commit crime are youth. Most people who suffer from crime are youth. Men sexual assault stigma that only females are sexually assaulted/raped. By definition, men could not be sexually assault or raped. Police reported crime statistics are not for crime stats but for the police. Unreported crime is dark figure of crime unreliability of crime statistics: enforces stranger danger/racial relation to crime. Crime funnel certain acts get taken out and don"t become statistics: attrition acts that could be counted as crime statistics are gradually cut out through the criminal justice system.
