They don"t want to upset the people around you. Wason: rule is that every card with a vowel on one side must have an even number. You also interpret things in a way that support your views. If men look at lots of beautiful women, they will rate their wife as less beautiful because their standard of beauty went up. Hostile media effect: when you watch the news, you tend to think they are hostile to your political views, you don"t notice the positive, but notice the criticisms. Temporal discounting: we value things in the future less than things now, things are less valuable in the future. You would take a dollar today rather than 2 dollars in a year. The more you discount the future, that predicts a lot of things in some people: we eat things we know are bad for us because we say screw ourselves in the future.
