Document Summary

A group of individuals of the same species living in the same area. A summary of mortality as a function of age in a population. This was developed by insurance companies so they could charge people more depending on their estimated life spans. You can generate survivorship cures from the tables. Survivorship curves have 3 categories: type 1: age is not shown but the percentage of maximum life is. There is typically very high survivorship and nering the end of the curve there is a very steep decline. But the ones that do will live forever, they are typically very large and very strong. (ie tortoise, molluscs) Bide data are used to predict population size. Growth can only grow exponentially if there is an unlimited amount of resources. Since there is not an unlimited amount of resources, once the population gets too big the intraspecies competition occurs.
