Privileged public space place to have ceremonies, dinners, throne set up to meet oicials. Ceiling inished under charles i, painings done in baroque style. Images are about the benevolent rule of the king. Done to provide public space and order. Similar to the place royale (place des vosges) Focal point in the square: the anglican church (one of the irst designed from the ground up) Important because it represents the presence of the king, religious, etc.
