Regulation of aspirations and needs by the collective conscience. * our primary aim lies in discovering how some social structures exert a de nite pressure upon certain persons in the society to engage in nonconformist rather than conformist conduct. Society"s value system encourages people to become non-conformist. Functionalism: balance, harmony, stasis, equilibrium within the social system.
