Top hat review: when fixating an object, an object that is closer to you than the object you are fixating will have crossed disparity (either on horopter or this happen but isn"t possible to have this simultaneously. It occurs when making a large aye movement. Attention and consciousness: change blindness: people don"t unaware of the change made when doing an activity (asking direction video) Inattentional blindness: awareness of everything around you diminished when you focused on doing a certain task (gorilla video) Attention: can be directed to objects: parahipoccampal area (ppa) house or places, ffa (fusiform facial area) faces. Increase activity when attending to houses, but low for faces i. Increase activity when attending to faces: attention helps to bias neural activity, v1: respond/fire if contrast is present, line to be specific. Bias competition model of attention: all attention is really doing is they are competing for neuron"s attention.
