The scientific study of how people think about, influence, and relate to one another: the effects of social stimuli on individual"s behaviour, thinking and feelings, the cause of behaviour in social situations. The scientific study of the way in which people"s thoughts, feelings and behaviours are influenced by the real or imagines presence of other people . Study: social status/class, poverty, social structure, social institutions. Personality psychologists are interested in individual differences, whereas social psychologists are generally not. Individual differences = part of people"s personalities that make them different from other people. The fundamental attribution error is the tendency to over estimate the extent to which peoples behaviour stems from personality traits and to underestimate the role of situational factors. Two basic human motives: the need to feel good about ourselves self esteem, the need to be accurate social cognition.
