Poor inhibition, impulse control (e. g. , vulgar, impulsive) Changes in mood/personality, reduced affect (e. g. , gage) Poor planning and organization (e. g. , taking out the garbage) Patients with frontal lobe damage can show many different deficits in goal directed behaviour, yet have major cognitive functions and intelligence intact: Patients show mixed patterns suggesting not really a syndrome . Hard at all stages of live, requires effort. Some people are better than others; it is a real individual difference. For kids/teens, it takes a while for the system to fully develop. The system and be lost (i. e. , damage to the frontal lobe) Can have major intelligence but still show the problems listed above (will make an individual look like you don"t care, not trying, lazy etc. ) It takes time to reconfigure one"s processing schema from one task to another, and to keep track of multiple task sets. Task switch costs - slower responses in mixed task blocks versus same task blocks.
