Document Summary
Made a box for cats to get out of and on the other side is food and water. Thorndike believes that learning will be stamped in the mind when there the action bring reward. Any stimulus that increases the probability of a response is said to be a reinforce. Any stimulus that decreases the probability of a response is said to be a punisher. There are 4 types of control over behaviour: positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, positive punishment, negative punishment. Effective punishment: apply punishment immediately, apply punishment consistently, apply punishment moderately, avoid withholding love, counter condition (reinforce alternative positive behaviours) Shaping shaping is the type of operant condition is when you have to practice a behaviour. So when you have to successively or gradually reinforce behaviours that lead up to the target behaviour. Is the training that is needed to familiarize the experimental animal with the mechanism (usually the feeder) that delivers the reinforce.
