How we remember something is not accurate"- it is selective". Researchers are most interested in how we reconstruct (remember) an event. Group selects a theme (ex. standing up for yourself) Group then selects a trigger (ex. feeling threatened: do not select an obvious trigger, such as me as hero"- these memories are too smooth, self- rehearsed, writing is critical. Write in third person" to distance yourself from your memories. Narratives do not, as it were, spring from the minds of individuals, but are social creations. We re-create our stories all the time, depending on the social situation. The same story, music, idea can be recreated" to tell a very different story. This young man came back and re-told this song.
