Let x be the number of successes (each with probability p) in n trials. Conducting a random phone sample of 100 canadians and asking whether or not they will vote in the next election. The number of free-throws an nba player makes in a 100 attempts. Rolling a pair of dice repeatedly until you get a 12 and finally get that ore you"ve been stuck on in a game of settlers of catan. Obtaining a sample of 10 individuals from our class of 100 without replacement and determining how many women are in the sample. I have time to show you one more group of statistical tests, so let"s go with something appropriate for ordinal data, because we haven"t really dealt with that at all: sign test for the median.
