Office: mc j401; hrs monday 9:15-10:45, thursday 11:15-12:45. Chapter 1 the foundations logic and proofs. Section 1. 1 propositional logic: definition: a proposition is a declarative sentence that is either true or false, but not both. Example: newton was a british scientist: true: toronto is the capital of canada: false, 1+5=10: false, 10^0=1, new propositions from old propositions. P (propositional variable) = peter is 6 ft tall; negative of p = is denoted by. Q=peter is an athlete: truth table. Conjunction of p and q is true when both p and q are true and false otherwise q. False: d is junction of p and q denoted by p or q is true what at least one of p or q is true, and is false if both p and q are false q. We can analuze the nature of data. See pg 52-53: determine the number of classes (5-20) Class width= ((max value)-(min value)) / number of classes.
