In addition of climate change, tropical forests are being cleared for mining; soil destruction is occurring, due to agribusiness practice, such as the use of gmo and pesticides etc. ; toxic waste produced by war are being diffused throughout the environment; nitrogen runoff from the overuse of fertilizer is affecting lakes, rives, and ocean regions, contributing to oxygen-poor (cid:862)dead zo(cid:374)es(cid:863) Ne(cid:449) (cid:271)a(cid:272)te(cid:396)ia a(cid:374)d (cid:448)i(cid:396)us(cid:859) that are taking control. What makes the current ecological situation so serious is that climate change, arising from human0generated increases in greenhouse gas emissions (coal 43%, gas 20%, oil 36%, cement, mining, factory production, transportation, war, etc. ), is not occurring gradually, but it is undergoing a dangerous acceleration, that can sudden shifts in the state of the earth system.
