The communities behave like the individual people in the trial. How an entire community responds to a given intervention. Divide into group a and b communities, and realize there is a health concern. Group a- gets the intervention (program) group b- is left alone. Did the addition of antioxidants to the water supply help the community that got it. We don"t care about what people are in the community- but confounders are present. Confounders include: environment, climate, race, gender, locations of things. After we do the intervention we observe our outcome- we need to express/write a hypothesis. We do this when we want to resolve environmental hazards. A lot of power in a community trial- lots of people. Occupation- very important to institute primary prevention (chemicals/toxins) People in developing nations do not know their hiv infection status. Africa for example, a lot of old people and very young people due to the increase of hiv infection.
