If we focus on just the behaviour, we are essentially ignoring all the other determinants that influence the behaviour (eg: environment, economic, access, resources) Eg: you want to eat healthier, but the cafeteria only serves hot dogs, pizza, pop etc. ; the healthier options at grocery stores also tend to be more expensive. Health is influenced by factors outside the individual. Social norms/ beliefs of health if there is discrimination of any kind, the patient will not feel comfortable enough to get help. Eg: men believe that they should just tough it out rather than go to the doctor and get the potential disease checked.
