It the idea of benefit majority of society with acts and there are cost associated. The decision maker is on equal field as everyone else and must survive presents and future. We place all the decision based on utility which is the addition of positive and subtraction of negative which ever has the highest utility is one we choose: it must benefit majority and ends justify means. How to measure how it benefit members, there will be minority which isn"t equal to all, only looks at end product not motivation. Act utilitarian: act in regard to satisfy end regardless of laws. Rule utilitarian: act in regard to following rules regardless of end. Falls under utilitarianism but follow rules regardless of the end: moral rules, law, professional rules, work place rules. Right is what someone is entitled to and society has obligation to provide or respect that right there are two types: legal, moral.
