Children move through stages that are: distinct (separate from each other, predictable (we aware of the change, coherent (each stage makes sense, fits together, improvement (becoming a better person????) In these stages, you are moving towards a higher ideal. Each stage is more adequate at responding to moral dilemmas than the last: a higher stage is better" than the last one, higher stages allow people to handle more complex problems.
