A single species may change over time into a new form that is different enough to be considered a new species --> anagenesis. A species may become split into two groups that no longer share the same gene pool --> cladogenesis. London wwii - mosquitoes aggressively biting people hiding in subway. Gene flow can occur in plant species when pollen or seed are carried. Whst is a species: evolutionary species concept. This group forms a lineage that has a distinct evolutionary fate from that of other lineages. Although shared evolutionary past is a key concept it isn"t that practical to help decide what populations are part of the same species. Phenetic species concept - using phenotype to define species. A species is composed of potentially interbreeding populations which are reproductively isolated from other groups.
