Important for kids to understand themselves, what they like and dislike, what they"re good at, etc. Children sort of whether they have initiative and can try out new things, or whether they"re unable to do that. Encouragement is huge, this motivates them to explore their environment. Encourage initiative by letting them make basic choices (what coat do you want to wear?) We have memories of high school and recent things. However, we don"t have memories of our second birthday: not that these things don"t matter, we just don"t have a conscious memory, no sense of self at this point. Preschool: friends who enjoy similar activities, you"re friends with someone either because your parents are friends, or because they like to do the same things (i. e. , playing soccer)
