The grateful dead was the central group of the san francisco psychedelic scene. 1965, jerry garcia was playing stones covers and chess jazz classics. After the band got a house gig for the ken kesey acid tests they started expanding their music. They were known for their long improvisatory songs. While these freefor(cid:373) ja(cid:373)s (cid:449)orked (cid:449)ell li(cid:448)e the(cid:455) did(cid:374)"t (cid:449)ork as (cid:449)ell i(cid:374) the studio or o(cid:374) the radio. Their first album contained only short tunes. Their improvisations were completely missing from the album. Their second albums anthem of the sun was basically a mix and match of tunes on the spot. This is sort of a(cid:374) e(cid:454)te(cid:374)sio(cid:374) of (cid:862)to(cid:373)orro(cid:449) ne(cid:448)er k(cid:374)o(cid:449)s(cid:863) (cid:271)(cid:455) the beatles. Jerry garcia said it was produced with the intent to enhance an acid trip.
