A small group is 3-12 people who come together to achieve a task or goal. A small group of people is an odd number in case a vote needs to happen. In small groups you know each other by name. A lot of interactions among participants happen in a small group. Each member identifies themselves as a part of the group. The member of the group shares a common goal. Factors that affect the quality and quantity of communication: Cohesiveness: how well the group acts as a group (positive factor) Norms: what the group accepts as normal (positive factor) Conforming: agreement with set ideas and rules (positive factor) Group think: conform too much to group that the group thinks in one way (negative factor) Conflict: disagreement in group negative factor) to resolve this focus on the idea, not person. Deal with basic practicalities: names, contact information (at least two), common times to meet.
