Expert: someone who performs exceptionally well in a given domain. Domain must be measured reliably as should performance. Expert testimony must involve a general acceptance within the scienti c community. Eg. forensic psychology - seems to be a legitimate domain for expertise. Study of memory may allow expertise to be gained. Speed cards event - resort new deck of cards into order previously seen. Diverting/avoiding/exceeding of human information processing limitations - tells us more about those human limitations. Experts tend to overcome limitations that sti e performance of most people. Training memory - learning to chunk (digits chunked as known running times). Learnt to e ciently use the strategy for this digit purpose, however for letters, still remained at about 7. Novices and experts thus perform similarly when given a random game con guration mid game rather than playing an actual game.
