In many cases- the skin is intact whenever there is cellulitis, but here there is oozing swollen skin, high fever indicated that a blood culture must be taken. According to the rationale penicillin is the best one to cover. All share a common structure, all kinds of them have different side chains which give them different properties. Destroy: aminopenicillins (amoxycillin, ampicillin, carboxypenicillins (ticarcillin, ureidopenicillins (piperacillin) Cephalosporins with anti-staphylococcal activity used against these penicllinase producing s. aureus strains: cephalexin, cephalothin, others. Another strategy has been developed to make antibiotics effective against -lactamase producing bacteria: combination of certain -lactam antibiotics with -lactamase inhibitors, the inhibitor will destroy the -lactamases therefore will enable the -lactam antibiotic to work.
