= the planning, organisation, and tracking of projects, with and end goal

Projects can arise in response to:
Strategic planning
The need for change in an organisation
A need to determine and ensure quality of service delivery
A need to ensure efficiency – best outcomes with least resources
A need to reduce risks or harvest opportunities

Creating a social cognitive remediation kit for people with schizophrenia
Create a flyer for family, carers, etc
Literature review of how the kit will benefit people with schizophrenia
Powerpoint presentation for staff to inform of how the sessions will be run at the
hospital
Developing a guide for clients when purchasing equipment
Developing a community directory to help people with disability access services
Guide for parents with children going from preschool to primary school.

Integration management - how does this project fit within the organisation
Scope management - needs to have a boundary
Time management - ensuring the project is completed within a time frame
Cost management - completed on a budget
Quality management - project outcomes are satisfied
Human resources management - team members work together effectively
Communications management - timely and appropriate communication
Risk management - identifying, analysing, monitoring and controlling risks
Steps in project management
PLANNING
1. Define the project
2. List the tasks involved – break the project into steps
3. Estimate time and cost of each task
4. Add up time and cost of each task and clarify the order
5. Shorten your project plan to ensure it can be completed on time eg remove tasks,
overlap tasks, add resources
6. Gantt chart - timeline
7. Resources and responsibilities – who is going to do what?
8. What might go wrong? Risk analysis
