Collective terms: motivation = students" energy to lern, work effectively + achieve their potential, engagement = the behaviours that align with this energy + drive. Defining engagement: active commitment, to involve oneself, become occupied, to participate, attract. Multidimensional engagement: behavioural engagement (be) = participation; involvement in academic & social or extracurricular activities. Research e. g. , student conduct + on-task behaviour: emotional engagement (ee) = positive & negative reactions to teachers, classmates, academics & school.
