Document Summary
Business process (bp) structured network of acitivites supported by resources (human and non-human) and information that interact to achieve some business goal: activity system: network of all business processes in an organisation. Complete well-designed bps include all activities necessary to achieve the business goal. Minimal well designed bps do not include unnecessary activities (cost efficiency) Well-structured activities in a well-designed bp are structured in a logical sequence. Embedded well-designed bps connect and interact with other bps in the organisation in effective and efficient ways. Well-designed business process : increased effectiveness (value for customer) ability to choose appropriate goals to achieve him, increased efficiency (less cost for customer) ability to make best use of resources in goal achievement. Business system = activity system (business processes) + information system: operational foundation of the business, day to day value creation and delivery, where the money is made (or lost?) Small improvement x high repetition/frequency rate = big cost savings.
